  1. @Brajesh

I was a bit curious how you have the forums setup on buddydev, and was hoping maybe you could give me some advice.

    What I am after:
I am building a site to sell my wordpress themes and want to provide forum support to members only.

    Important to me:

    • When a wants to purchase a theme on the website, they must first register
    • Once a person completes payment via paypal, they should then have automatic access to the forum for their theme
    • Each theme will have its own sub-forum so only members that purchased that theme have access to that forum
    • The purchaser should then have instant access to the file download for the theme they just purchased
    • Eventually - Once I have a number of themes, I will create the ability for the user to have a monthly membership with access to all themes and support forums
    • If the subscribers membership expires, they loose ability to access downloads and forums

    Questions:
    1. I notice that I have access to the member forums here because I am a member. It has been so long, that I don't remember if this was an automated process or not.

Do you have your site setup, so that once a person purchases a membership that they have instant access to the members forums?

    If so, how?

    2. Do you have your site setup so that once my membership expires, that I loose access to these members only forums?

    If so, how?

    3. Do you have any ideas how to do a forum setup where each member has access to only the forum that pertains to the product they purchased?

--I notice you only have one level here right now, but curious if you have this functionality behind the scenes

    That's it....

I already have all the tools I need if I use vbulletin, but have no idea of what tools are available for WordPress. I'd love to hear what forum software, membership plugins, etc.. would be needed to pull off a project like this.

*Does anyone think bp + a few other plugins would be a good tool for this project?

  2. IMHO, wp+bp can be a good fit, especially if you are selling wp and bp themes. I like companies that use the products they purport to enhance.

You might pose this question on the buddypress site as there you will get a variety of input.
