Hi Brajesh,
Until I get a chance to inspect the new magazine style themes you're working on, i've been learning based off of cosmic buddy. i've been trying to accomplish a few things and wondered if you had suggestions.
1. Trying to add a 300x250 ad block to sidebar. I've added the block but of course the sidebar is only 270px wide. How many places would I need to edit to fit that in? I would think that if i modify the width of the sidebar, but then I realized that it also wouldn't line up with the header and the footer. can you tell me how many spots i'd need to change the width or an easy way to do this?
2. bbpress integration. I'm probably going to have to go with the deep integration method like you did here. How hard is it to theme bbpress to match the rest of the site? Is it possible to tell the bbpress index page to use something like a page template or do you have any suggestions?
3. I noticed on another site, the site wide activity widget seems to display less info than my install. They are using another theme so I wondered if there was anything in the theme that is dictating how much info to show in that. The site is http://gameserfs.com.
Thanks for all your help and I'm really looking forward to getting to play with the gallery and the new magazine themes. I'm learning a lot by modifying CB but it might save me some time when I can see your new theme. Any way to get a screenshot or something to see if I should continue working on CB?
For the record, CB is one of the best/most versatile themes I've found so far for buddypress. The only things that so far I seem to be missing are:
1. ad blocks- 468x60 ad blocks in header and body, 300x250 ad block in sidebar or widget.
2. image resizing and automatic image grabbing in either body or attached image. I've been using get_the_image from justin tadlock and it works well except that his code displays the full size image in a thumbnail if you use it on the front page. For example if I have a 2mb image linked in my post, the image size of the thumbnail on the home page will show as 2mb rather than taking that 2mb image and using something like timthumb to resize it and display it on the home page. This would save quite a bit of load time.
An example of a theme that I was trying to "buddyize" was The Stars at http://www.premiumwp.com/demo/thestars/. I'm not sure how close you are to releasing the themes but I'm curious to any of your inspirations or thoughts on that.
Thanks again for all you do!
