  1. Brajesh,

I'm still having trouble with my latest discussions. Group Forum threads are showing and Global Forum Threads are not showing.

Even newly created group forums show up on my global board.

    See
    http://housingstorm.com/forums/

    and

http://housingstorm.com/siteforums - notice i've got 5 test threads started under "Forums" but none of them snow under latest discussions.

I'm going to try disabling plugins to try and find the culprit.

also, oembed doesn't work yet... :)
    see http://housingstorm.com/siteforums/topic/test-video

Let me know if you want login info...

I'm using MU 2.9.2 and BP 1.2.4.1...maybe I should upgrade?

  2. Hi Greg
Checking on your site. If possible, please PM me the details.

    Currently it should work as:-
    1. Global forum topics should not appear in group forum
2.Group forums topic should not appear in global forum
I have made them mutually exclusive(though with a few line of code and filter, we can manage to show all group forum topic in global forum).

  3. @Brajesh

Haven't been around for a while, but just installed gf v1.0. (Thanks again for this!)

Something strange however. Whether maintenance mode is active or not, and even with or without the code supplied in answer to @david's post above, I get this odd warning when I click on a Group forum topic that appears in Global forums:

Warning: mysql_get_server_info(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home6/rspaceor/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1241

The message appears 9 times (which is coincidentally the same as the number of users...)

Note that this message appeared after simply updating gf. Then I cleared out all traces of Global and Group forum topics from the database before a clean reinstallation of gf. The message still appears. Note that the message also appears when creating a Global forum topic.

Another thing: Group forum topics appear in the "Latest Discussions" area, which is fine, but, when clicking on a child forum (under a category forum), Group forum topics still appear in the "Latest Discussions" area as though they were posted in the child forum.

    Any ideas?

  4. @patrick - sounds like you are having the same group forum contagion that I'm having. Have you tried deactivating other BP plugins looking for a culprit?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  5. Hi Patrick
    Welcome back :)

Thanks for the info. the mysql_get_server_info() bug is appearing on some of the installation (was reported by @catfrommars earlier), I was unable to reproduce it though.

I have got the details from Greg, and I am going to find the reason for the other bug right away.
Will be posting an update soon.

and may be I will need some help tracking down the mysql_get_server_info() bug from you too.

  6. Hi Greg,
Just got back to work today and I found the details in Pm. Going to track on your site now :)

  7. Hi Greg,
The wp admin info is not working. I am getting incorrect password message. Please check.

    Thanks
    Brajesh

  8. Hi Greg,

Uh... actually, no I haven't. Let me get on it (he says, intently studying the patterns in the rug...)

    Posted 1 year ago #
  9. OK. I deactivated ALL plugins except Buddypress and Global Forums. Group forum topics still appear in Global directory (which, as I mentioned earlier, is OK for me).

However, clicking any group topic in global directory points to a non-existent page, like so:
    http://rspace.org/siteforums/topic/new-in-group-forum-1/

The actual topic page is this:
    http://rspace.org/groups/inspiration/forum/topic/new-in-group-forum-1/

Worse yet, even posting a new topic to an existing global forum ALSO points to a non-existent page, like so:
    http://rspace.org/siteforums/topic/new-in-blog-stuff/

The post does seem to get created 'cuz it appears in global directory.

    I'm confused :-(

The nasty warning message is gone though. So it does look like another plugin isn't playing nice.

Oh yeah... I'm still running WPMU2.9.2/BP1.2.3

    Posted 1 year ago #
  10. @brajesh - just pm'd you again.

    @patrick - maintenance mode?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  11. @greg

Whether maintenance mode plugin is activated or not, I still get the weird activity.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  12. @ patrick

I had same problem on WPMU2.9.2/BP1.2.3,
Updated to wp3 & bp 1.2.5.2 and edited the css, ie: copied gf style.css to child themes style.css
and having only a few problems now,
I've tested commenting on previous posts/forums and they all come back fine,
only problem i was having was creating a new forum & new topic,
But to add a new forum go to Admin and create a forum there and it shows,
Also after creating a forum in admin i can now create topics since i added the forum first,
It wont add to a previously added forum though.

  13. @greg
Thanks. I am on your site at the moment.
@Patrick, sorry to hear the issues but I did not tested this plugin with bp 1.2.3, I tested with 1.2.5.2(for the new one).
Will be testing again on bp 1.2.3

    Posted 1 year ago #
  14. @Brajesh

Well, that would probably explain things then. I haven't dared upgrade up til now due to all the bugs still being ironed out of BP1.2.5 & WP3.0.

But maybe the time has come to grab the bull by the horns and go for it?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  15. @Greg
Thanks so much for the access. It is fixed on your site now and I am going to put a bug fix here too. There was a minor bug there(the negating of forum ids was not working properly to exclude).

@all, we will have a bugfix in an hour(waiting for any report of mixing global forum topic on group forums)

@Patrick, no need to upgrade, I just tested it(not deeply though) with bp 1.2.3 and it will work, let me put the updated forum.

@all, can you point me if you have seen global forum topic appearing on the group forum list ? I am not able to produce that. the group forum topic appearing in global forum is fixed though.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  16. @ brajesh,

Yeah i have global forum topic on my group forum list,
But is on there for when you select the forum added in group forums,
    http://www.peeps-central-chat.com/siteforums/topic/hmmm/ like that.

  17. @Brajesh

Early morning update: I started reactivating plugins one by one to see if I could track down some conflicts. Found one.

When s2member is activated, I get the warning message but forum posts are created and accessible.

Strange, but when s2member is NOT activated, forum posts are created but I get the non-existent links.

    ???

  18. Brajesh,

We've still got an oembed issue...

    http://housingstorm.com/siteforums/topic/test-video-2

    Posted 1 year ago #
  19. Also, can you post the snip of code that we would need to add to unified search?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  20. Hi Brajesh,

So happy to see the updated global forums. The issues I'm having are:

-My original posts show up from the previous forum (General Topics 4 posts) but they are nowhere to be found, when I try to search those topics I get "Sorry, there were no forum topics found"

-I added a topic titled 'Test' under my 'general discussion' topic. When I click on the 'general discussion' my post gets lost within my group forums, there is no separation and I cannot tell which forum that topic belongs to. (this would be something that is very important to my members)

-When I try to promote another member to 'mod' I get this error "The action requested can not be performed"

I haven't had the chance to completely play around with it yet but this is what I found so far. Thanks again Brajesh you've been wonderful.

  21. @Greg,@Patrick,@Ben,@ambientgirl

Thank you all for the patience and all your bug reports. I was unable to post earlier as I was away.
But we will have an update that addresses the mixing of group forum with global forum(It was a bug and I found a solution while working on Greg's site).

@greg, The oembed works but it requires line breaks before the embed content and after it. I had edited yesterday a video on your site, you may check here http://housingstorm.com/siteforums/topic/test-video/, btw, it is just a regular expression thing and I will be putting a fix over it too.

    @Patrick,
Will check with s2 member now. We will have a release within 1-2 hours. btw, does s2members affect .htaccess ?
    @ambientgirl,
Thanks for the info. the first two issues are fixed as they were generated from a bug in forum, I am looking at the 3rd, we will have an update in 1-2 hours.

    Thanks
    Brajesh

  22. @Brajesh

Thanks for taking a look! Here's an excerpt from a post by the lead dev of s2member concerning .htaccess:

I can tell you that s2Member does NOT write anything to the .htaccess file for your WP installation, ever.

The only .htaccess files that s2Member writes are these:

    * /wp-content/plugins/s2member-files/.htaccess
    * /wp-content/plugins/s2member-logs/.htaccess

Those are simply DENY FROM ALL files, to protect these back-end directories from public access.

    From: http://www.primothemes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=353&p=1478&hilit=htaccess#p1478

  23. ok, Here is 1.0.1
    It fixes
    1. The group forum will not intermix with global forum
    2. the issue with oembed, it should work perfectly

    http://buddydev.com/http//buddydev.com/download/global-forum-1.0.1.zip

There are no changes in template, so no need to override them, just override the plugin.

Please let me know if it helps or not .

    Thanks
    Brajesh

  24. Hi Brajesh

Just tested v1.0.1 with database tables cleared & new bbpress install, and found a few issues.

Good news: group forum topics no longer appear in global forum directory.

Bad news: still get the below message when clicking through to a global forum topic (only when s2member is activated)

Warning: mysql_get_server_info(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /mysite/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1241

Odd news: here's what happens when creating forums/topics...

    1 - Create a category forum. OK.
2 - Create a forum in category. The URL looks like this: http://rspace.org/siteforums//blog-stuff (intentional double-slash? no category name?)
3 - Create a forum with no category. Same URL structure as above.
3 - Create a topic in forum. Only site header appears with "Success" message. URL looks like this: http://rspace.org/siteforums/topic/2nd-topic-in-blog-stuff (no forum title?)
5 - Try to delete or edit a forum, get these messages:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home6/rspaceor/public_html/wp-content/themes/rspace-custom1.2/gf/admin/delete-forum.php on line 1
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home6/rspaceor/public_html/wp-content/themes/rspace-custom1.2/gf/admin/edit-forum.php on line 1

A big step forward, but we've still got wrinkles. Damn, this php stuff is complicated :-)

  25. hi Patrick
Thanks for the info. yes, the error may come with s2 member, It is not yet compatible, but will become compatible today/tomorrow.

Is error 2,3,4 comes when s2 member is didabled too ?

error 5 is just because you may not have uploaded in binary mode. please check your ftp and make encoding to binary mode and upload the template files again, that issue will be resolved.

    Thanks
    Brajesh

    Posted 1 year ago #
  26. Hi again Brajesh,

Thanks, uploading in binary helped. (My fickle memory tricked me again. Your post reminded me that you had already mentioned it in another post, but the info didn't sink in.)

Forum creation, editing, navigation, etc. seems to work just fine now as long as s2member IS activated. But when I deactivate s2member, only the site header appears as detailed above.

Something else might be interfering. I'll check again tonight after work.

  27. I downloaded the update and on my site, i noticed that if I use oembed to include a youtube video, it works, but anything else I've tried doesn't work. I've tried embedding in replies and in posts with no luck. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or need to configure?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  28. Hi Brajesh,

Okay I've installed the new one. The group forums and global are separate now yay! These are the issues I am having and maybe it's an error on my part.
    1) I still get the "The action requested can not be performed" when trying to promote a member to a mod
    2) When I click on any topic my whole screen goes blank and nothing shows up.... help!! You can check it out here
http://myindiejunction.com/siteforums if you click on any of the topics.

Hopefully this is just an error on my part, thanks again!

  29. Bug of subforum display...it says there are no topics when there are.

    http://housingstorm.com/siteforums/global-forum/industry-forum

    Posted 1 year ago #
  30. Greg, That is correct. There are no topic in the current forum and the 2 topics belong to the child forum, that's why this is not listing it. This is the behavior of bbpress, you may check buddydev forum (how it works) for confirmation.

    @ambientgirl
I see that everything upto breadcrumb is displayed but nothing after that. Still not sure. Can you please provide me the list of plugins used on your site.

    @Chris
Does the link work in activity, if yes, that will work in forum. global forum uses same set of rules/things as bp-oembed, so if something works in activity it will work in forum too.

    @Patrick
Thanks for the last info. Now will be testing it.
