Hi @brajesh , I would like to suggest you to create very simple Google Maps Groups plugin or code, till now I have not found any working, some of plugins I've tried didn't work at all , and I think that to have one very simple Google maps TAB with one very simple Google MAP in it is a very important addition to the groups because most of the groups on buddypress installations represents companies , clubs , associations and all of them would appreciate very simple Map where in ADMIN part you only insert real ADDRESS and output the MAP.
Best of all should be to automatically fetch the address from some Groups "address" custom field which should be filled out in Groups creation.

@brajesh yesterday I was in a meeting about social media and it was a conference from Andrew Hawkes. Mozilla. @robhawkes talking about the geolocation, and actually mozilla has got an api very impressive about that... I think it will be an esaier start to build a plugin about y java...
good luck!
Actually a checkins ability with custom post, and cubepoint or achievement integration it could make a kind of superfoursquare posibilities

I was thinking about something like this :
http://gmap3.net/examples/address-lookup.htmlfill out the address in group admin and to see the Google map on separate page (Group TAB) maybe with some custom fields (up/below) like :
country:
province:
city:
street:
ZIP:to create something as usual (directions , location , map ) website page (pages as on flash pages you can see)

Hi Daniel,
will it be good if we put a static google map for the initial version
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/staticmaps/Please let me know, I will put it today :)

Yes , of course , it would be perfect for me -:) I only need a new group TAB with the name something like "Map" with a simple page containing a simple google map image let's say (400px x 500px) with one or more placeholders to show exact (venue - group - company) position.

Thanks. I will put it today then :)

Ok, just updating. I am done with this plugin. It works, but I will need some more time to polish the admin ui before release.
Hopefully tonight I will be able to put it for release.

Hello Brajesh , it is exactly what I wanted !! -:) thank you very , very much , I didn't try it yet, because you've maybe forgot to add download links, so pls. insert them and when I wake up (I have 2.am here in Europe now) I will immediately try it out! I've seen recently on buddypress.org some similar Google Maps requests, so I will send them to your website now.

I have downloaded the plugin from github and it is working very smoothly and it was installed without any problem , it is showing exact map, it is exactly like I wanted , it is perfect and very useful plugin , thank you , I will recommend your website whenever I can!
About USER profile map: I am using hnla's plugin BP User Profile Map and it works very nice for me , it shows the map in user's profile and grab the info from "location" custom field so I am happy with that, on my opinion I would focus on improving your GROUP simple plugin to insert ADDRESS autocomplete function to make the people simpler to add addresses (if it would be in future possible) as I have put the link in post before:
http://gmap3.net/examples/address-lookup.html
Otherwise I am very satisfied and I have no need to add other functions , because this simple plugin shows what I want.Posted 10 months ago # -
Thanks Daniel,
I updated the download link now.Looking at your other suggestion. Will get back later :)
