I have a suggestion for a plugin which should help all of our community members integrate and engage in conversation, which i will decribe as a 'arrival plugin'
essentially, i think its important that members are welcomed and integrated into the community as soon as they arrive. as with any community there are passive and active members, the passive members sometimes need a gentil push to engage with the other members.
here is how i envision the plugin working - although you may find better ways in which this could work.
1. member registers
2. member activates account
-----
3. a popup message presented to new member (one time only)
"welcome to XXXX, now that you're part of the community, why not let us all know something interesting about you"........ {custom message]
4. once new member writes there comment it is posted to the activity stream for the whole community to see.

5.an extra functionality could be to link this to a forum to populate and store the arrival messages.
