Plugin Idea: invite friends

1. Would very much like to see an invite friends plugin that allows users to invite their friends through their email address..i think it is essential to increase traffic to your site and so that users can have friendships with their real friends who they want to communicate with..
   for example:
   user clicks on invite friends then has a choice of options to use windows live id, gmail, yahoo, facebook, twitter etc..
   when the user chooses eg. windows live, he gets an option whether to import the email addresses from the address they typed in or type in the email address manually..then an auto-generated message set by the admin, shows what will be sent and the user sends or cancels..
   i hope u get the idea, similar to facebook's invite friends page

   there was previously an invite-friends plugin but it has been discontinued and does not work with bp 1.2 ofcourse..

   any thoughts?

2. Andrew, Thanks for the Idea. I think, Nicola has done a great work on this with his plugin. I will advise you to ask him, whether he is going to update it for bp 1.2 or not. I think, he will be as I saw In one of the tweets. You know, the original plugin by Nicola was good enough, and I feel it as unethical to fork. May be I will contact him and If I update his plugin, will send the code to him.

4. thanks but from the buddypress forums it seems someone already contacted G. Caputo the original developer of the plugin and the response was that he would not be updating the plugin and has discontinued it..

   you can edit all... the plugin was developed for buddypress 1.0

   With new version of buddypress i don't know if it work or if the plugin directory is changed..
   I am not developing and editing it, becouse i am very busy and becasue there are more changes of buddypress on little time...so i should do it ever..

   I can not help you now. I can tell you taht the message is parsed where is mail function... or on method to use the API of all provedire as twitter..
