Proximity search - Members near me

  1. One of the most requested features I've come across for buddypress or any social site is a way for members to quickly find members that are close/near to them. I would LOVE to see a feature like this where a member could click a button to search for members close to them, also allowing to have certain custom profile fields included would be great as well. So a member could search "female" members close to me, etc.

  4. I checked out the demo and it may be a little overkill for my needs but I am sure some of the features can be turned off. I also noticed on the demo that it would show users across the world even though I selected 20km radius, what's up with that?

I purchased the plugin and like it's features but seems the developer cares nothing about his customers with everyone not even being able to find the support forums and no responses at all to 99% of questions!! Very disappointing! He needs to take a lesson from @sbrajesh as Buddydev is worlds better!!

    @gregfielding have you had any luck with that developer?

  7. i use mapologie since 6 month and the developer is very nice and kindly.
    help as he can, but he is a traveler around the world sometimes

    if you purchased the plugin you can get a memebrship on the group mapologie, like there, some questions AND answers around in the group and forum there

  9. Ok so I have Mapology now and love the proximity feature but one thing it's missing is the ability to mix the proximity search with profile fields.

    Imaging being able to search for a member that is "Within 300miles, that has the OCCUPATION field "Wordpress Developer" and is "Female" ??

    I currently use a plugin called BP Profile Search that does a fairly decent job with the fields but does not work with Mapology's proximity, you can do either one or the other.

    This plugin seems to be at a stand still as well and does not do good with my 9000+ member site.

    I talked to the mapology developer and he has no plans to add profile field searches into mapology as it's not really the place for it.

    With that being said, I KNOW that a Profile field searching with proximity is a hugely wanted feature for community sites, dating sites, etc.

    So there you go @sbrajesh , another premium plugin idea ;)
