  1. It might seem slightly off topic (not related to brajesh plugins etc), but this is my #1 site to visit, so Im hoping its ok to ask here. :) plus its kind of related to the sitewide activity widget...

Im installing that Super Cache plugin, but since im using buddypress, the home page is not a blog.. instead my homepage shows "sitewide activity widget" and a few other things...

super cache will refresh the cached home page if someone creates a new post, or leaves a comment.. but since its buddypress, no one will ever leave a comment on the main site blog (there isnt one- because the members create their own), so therefore the only page that will ever be served to non-logged-in visitors, will always look like theres no new activity (because it wont ever build a new cached page).

so does this mean that we really cant use super cache with a buddypress site?

  2. Hi Shane,
As far as I know, supercache works with BuddyPress.
I will check it today again on my system and post back.

I hope many of us have experience with supercache, so maybe before I come to the topic again, someone may have a better answer :)

  3. Thanks Brajesh.
Yes supercache definately works with buddypress, but what if you have a site where you are not really using the primary site blog... in that case supercache will always show the cached page to 'non-logged in' users... so therefore the site will look like theres not much activity going on since the activity widget is on my hoem page, but the cached page will have a very old date as the most recent activity.

not sure if im explaining correctly. but supercache only updates the cached page when there is a new post or comment.. but there will never be a comment or post on some sites like mine where I dont use the main site blog.

  4. Yup, SuperCache does work with BP. In the Advanced Tab of the SuperCache settings panel in admin, you have the option to keep the default 3600 secs time to refresh cache or change it to something less or more.

  5. I had thought that was what that section was for, but on my install, it never re-cached the page unless I made a post or comment. regardless of what seconds i put in that field.

hmm, well if it works for you, then let me try again on a different site.

    thanks for your replies
