  1. Hello,
I am unable to upgrade my Buddypress to latest version and when tried this error is seen:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_add_root_component() in /home/dogclub/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bpdev-stealth-mode-for-siteadmin/bpdev-sm.php on line 53"

Now my whole buddy press is showing this error and also my dash board is gone.

Brajesh I wish to see an immediate help on this.

    Regards,
    Rahul.

  2. When I tried to remove BP Stealth mode plugin from admin I got a new error at my site's home page as follows:
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_new_subnav_item() in /home/dogclub/public_html/wp-content/plugins/recent-visitor-for-bp/bp-visitors.php on line 28"

I am scared if my all BP site is gone or what?

  3. Now when I removed BP Recent Visitor Plugin, I am seeing this error now:
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_is_page() in /home/dogclub/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bpdev-username-availability-checker/username-availability-checker.php on line 22"

My Site has gone down Brajesh, I hope you reply soon.

  4. Just so you know, your site is not actually gone. It's just got server errors going on which is why you see the white screen. None of your data is actually lost, it's just not accessible until you fix the errors.

I would start by deactivating all plugins, make sure the site works, and then activate just buddypress. Test again, if it works, then reactivate plugins one at a time until you find the culprit.

Also, it would help to know what vs. of buddypress you started with and what vs. you are trying now. Also what vs. of wordpress.

If all else fails, simply revert to your backup... guessing you weren't dumb enough to upgrade a live site without a complete file and db backup first.....

If you check the bp site, you will see tons of people having major problems with the bp update. Basically the latest version is messed up big time.

If you do deactivate all the plugins, and still have problems then at least you know it's not a bpdev plugin causing any issues.

Part of the problem is that bp made such major changes in the updates, that almost every plugin out there is going to break. Even bp itself does not work properly right now.

good luck, I'd stay to help but it's 2am and bedtime.

  5. If you cant access your admin dashboard move all content on wp-content/plugins/ to another folder

acess dashboard then move buddypress again to plugins folder and activate. do this for every plugin and you will have your site running and/or you discovery what plugin is F##$&#$& your site :)

  6. Thanks guys, yes I have offsite backup too.
I tried removing all plugins but site is not coming up, I am running latest version of wpMu and Buddypress, was just about to upgrade the new BP version and every thing gone white.

Is BP more reliable than Boonex?
    Please suggest.

    Regards,
    Rahul.

  7. It depends on how you upgrade it. The first thing I've realized is that you need to deactivate ALL of your plugins before attempting to upgrade bp. bp did a little better with asking other plugin devs to set bp_init functions on the plugins so that they wouldn't kill the install if buddypress wasn't there but that hasn't stopped everything. Also, as Shawn mentioned, I would rename the buddypress folder in the plugins folder. The white screen you're getting with bp disabled is probably because it's still looking for your theme that's based on bp. I would see if you can get to /wp-admin/themes.php and change your theme. I'm not sure if you'd have to do it in your phpmyadmin.

  8. @rahul, what they all said. "Safe" versions: WPMU 2.9.2 and BP 1.2.3.

  9. @Rahul
easy way, rename plugins folder to something else for a minute and you will be able to get back to your admin area.

Then deactivate bp-default and activate some other theme. Your site will be back.
Then go and rename your plugins folder back to plugins, upgrade the buddypress and activate the plugins.
Activate your theme back and everything will be normal.

Currently only bp-gallery and bp-profile-for-blogs , bp-autoactivate user account plugins are bp aware from our plugins. I am working on making other plugins bp aware too.

As of boonex vs Bp is concerned, Bp is having a high paced development, so be ready for accepting changes with some version (we had to go through a lot of pains in updating theme for bp 1.2 from bp 1.1 theme) until bp gets mature. Try to stick with major versions as much as possible and make a dev site for updating first.
    That's what I can suggest.

    Thanks
    Brajesh

  10. Hello,
Thanks Brajesh, its working now, but in panic I deleted some files and tried a method which did not work but now I feel like I should reinstall everything instead of fixing things, yes I did not deactivated the plugins, as I thought there are many plugins so it wont go wrong. Also at BP upgrade instruction page it was stated that if I am using latest BP version I can easily go ahead with upgrade.

Brajesh, with my new installation, should I integrate BBpress after BP install from BP installer or should I install BBpress seperately?

    Suggestions are invited.

Thank you all for putting your valuable suggestions here.

    Regards,
    Rahul.

  11. You are most welcome :)
If you have not deleted the database then you can restore the site without installing it fresh.

Do you plan to have standalone forum like we have here or just the group forums. If you want to have standalone forum, first install the forum and then use it for bp too, that will be the easy way.

  12. Yes I would like to use a forum like it is here, otherwise every time a thread is opened in some group.
So please suggest me, I will be doing a WPMU install first, then a BBpress (at some folder) and then BP install and the integration of BB press in BP plugin.
    Am I right Brajesh?

    Thank you,
    Rahul.

  13. @Rahul
Yup, for standalone forums that is how you do it.
    1. install wpmu -- make lots of test of everything to make sure everything works before continuing on
    2. install bbpress
    3. install buddypress
    4. integrate buddypress with existing bbpress forums

  14. Thank you Shawn :-)

  15. I followed the steps suggested by Shawn and installed BBpress before I installed BP.
But when I integrated using "existing bbpress forum" it got integrated but it is asking to create a group before any topic can be open.
Please suggest me how can I get a independent group free BBpress forum like one here?
    Brajesh, please spot some light.

    Thank you.

  16. That's right. I assume you are trying to post to forum from forums directory(yoursite.com/forums), It will require you to have a group.

To access the global forum, access your forum using the url where you installed your bbpress(e.g mysite.com/forum)

Please remember you will also need to hide any forum topics from appearing in your standalone forum. for that, you will need to modify your bbpress theme and exclude forum 1 and all of its sub forums.

Another solution which is coming by the end of week: I am about to complete global forum plugin which gives you all the things almost like standalone bbpress forum but shares the bbpress installation with groups.

So, that could be your third option.

  17. Brajesh, instead of itni matha fodi, i will wait for your plugin to arrive.
I have some issue with CosmicBuddy theme.
When I post some update in activity stream, I see the following error.
"Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Invalid arguments passed in /home/hotainc/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-activity/bp-activity-templatetags.php on line 806"
Do you want access to my site, please let me know, I will PM you the details.

Also this issue is not correct to be discussed under this topic, so should I open a new thread?

Thanks, I hope it comes tomorrow.

The problem you see is because of "bp_activity_filter_links", buddypress handles it incorrectly. If your site has not activity/no activity for a particular filter, It will show the user. It will go away when there are some activities available.

I am removing it from cosmic buddy and adding a function to check for empty array before imploding. Today you will have CB with unified search, support for all of our plugins and more with CB.
Yes, using a new thread will be better for these things.
