Uploading papers and essays, pdf, BP Gallery

1. Hi,

   I want to give my members the option to upload and discuss their research papers and essays.
   What do you think is the best way to manage this?
   What about uploading pdf-files via BP-Gallery?
   So Photos, Videos, Audios and Papers would be found in one directory?

2. I use BP Group Documents and Forum Attachments for BuddyPress.
   You can attach just about anything with Forum Attachments for BuddyPress.
   Combine with oembed capability if you want to use url, can do something good imo

   thanks a lot for your help!
   But this works only for "Group-documents", doesn't it?

   I want to keep things simple.
   Now with BP-Gallery every single member can upload media-files, except documents, without creating a group.
   And actually, I don't want to force them into doing it...

   Do you have any further idea?

4. You are right: it is for group activities only.
   No furthur idea.. except to give permission to pdf files in media files (where videos are)

   Thanks to both of you for the discussion. I am sure, I can put a small plugin for documents. Let me see how much time it takes. May be in the beginning of next week.

   Please let me know which document types you will want to allow pdf/doc/docx(I will need to know the extensions)

   that sounds great!

   For my purpose pdf would be the most important one.
   .Doc would be fine, as it is in common use.
   .docx as a goody and convenient for users.
