I would like to see an plugin that would allow members to show their relationship status and who they are connected with like FB has.
They could say, I’m married to: pick member. Then it could show that persons avatar on their profile in the top right corner like where the group admin avatars show on the groups page or something like that.
Would be great for the admin to specify custom relationship titles so we could put things like. “in a relationship with” “married to” “has a crush on” etc etc.

Certainly Something I wanted to do it long long ago. The point of thinking is should we use Xprofile field(which is very inflexible to extend at the moment) or the user meta ?

An Xprofile field could contain basic relationship status (Single/Married/Divorced/Widowed/Living in a convent), but I’m not sure it could link to the profile of another person the way that Facebook does.

It is coming next week. We are done with it(not the xprofile way but using custom table).

HI Skyrie,
sorry I could not reply earlier.
We will release it on Saturday.
Tomorrow, we will be updating BuddyDev and then on Saturday, we will be releasing this plugin.

The original idea of whom the member is connected to is a fantastic idea. Still, I wouldn’t limit it to “personal” relationships. For example, take a competitive dance couple. It’s a business relationship (most of the time). So, I suggest the relationships be generic which could be defined by the site Admin, and let the member choose the “relationship” and the partner(s). Just my two cents…
