    Hello @sbrajesh,

I’m picking up on a comment thread I contributed to back in 2010 to float a plugin idea to you. I am not a coder or else I would do it myself. But I think it could really open a new category of usefull integration between bp and wp layers.

    Here’s the thread:
    http://buddydev.com/buddypress/blog-categories-for-groups-plugin/#comment-8291

The original back then was to add an option to your bp blog categories plugin to support assignment by custom taxonomy. But now I think I’d like to take the whole thing to a new level entirely. Here’s what I’m thinking …

IN A NUTSHELL: WP Categories/Taxonomies option to mirror to BP Groups
    1. Taxonomy admin pages include an option to form a new BP Group every time a new term is added. An additional option can retroactively create Groups for existing terms.
    2. Once the option is selected and groups are created to mirror terms, taxonomy pages redirect to their corresponding BP Group.
    3. Each “term” group contains an admin option to include a navigation tab for each post type associated with the taxonomy.

So really, this is very much like your Categories for Groups plugin with some additional functionality. The upshot is that wordpress post content of various kinds can be grouped (bp grouped) rather than simply categorized.

My example: a travel site that presents various kinds of content associated with specific countries to groups of people interested in interacting with that content. Content includes 1) a country description (page), 2) news about the country (posts), 3) opportunities for travel (cpt), 4) a calendar of coming events (Event Manager), 5) fans, locals and guides organized by BP Group membership roles.

Each item is of course accessible on its own in the WP layer but is now grouped in the same place for dedicated community interaction.

I would be willing to contribute some seed money to get your dedicated attention on such a plugin. But I imagine you’d gain a lot of credit in the bp community for offering something like this.

Let me know if you are interested.
