hi Brajesh,
you’ll recall we had an issue where activity feed comments on media were being entered into the feed without any associated image. This was fixed by you, which was a great relief.
What now seems to be happening, is that gallery comments are being inserted into the feed, but without any image/s attached. This happens often when new site users are “browsing the galleries”. It’s really frustrating for my site, which is a very visual site, to have people commenting on things and for those things to not appear in the feed. If you follow me?
Do you have a workaround, or do I need to build a trigger/action for this? As always, any helpful suggestions/fixes very much appreciated.
R.
Hi Richard,
Welcome back.Is it happening on the direct comment over media or a comment on the comment of media? The direct comments on media will show the media. The second level and deeper comments won’t show the media.
Please let me know and I will assist.

Brajeshhi Brajesh,
this particular issue is on the gallery itself, eg;
/members/profile-nnnn/mp/me-34/
So a member sees the gallery of say 16 images, and makes a general comment on it which adds a text-only entry to the feed. I believe you said previously that gallery comments were handled differently to media comments, which is entirely reasonable. I had something similar to this with the (buddyblog) blogs, which also adds a “plain” comment to the feed.
For the blogs, I built an action trigger to add an entry into the feed and to parse the blog (database record/s) for any included media using the parent_id = blog_id. I imagine something similar could be done for the galleries. In an ideal world this could be configurable to include a random image, or say up to 3 thumbnails, in the feed entry.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for the clarification.MediaPress does not support showing gallery images if the comment is on the gallery and not the media.
I am sorry but there are no direct ways to enable it.

Brajeshhi Brajesh,
that’s ok, I’ll figure something out, maybe 🙂
