Does Mediapress support external audio and video links?

    Hello

    Does Mediapress adding media support soundcloud links? I tried adding audio files by adding the link to a random soundcloud audio clip and there is a message that says “This type is not supported.” I would like people to be able to “embed” or similar, audio and video media hosted elsewhere so that I don’t have to store them on my hosting storage.

    Hello Stephanie,

    There is a compatibility issue with embedding media from SoundCloud, as SoundCloud exclusively returns a rich media type. Unfortunately, MediaPress is currently configured to handle only video and photo types of media. As a result, SoundCloud media cannot be properly integrated or displayed within MediaPress at this time.

    Thank you Ravi for the explanation. In that case, is there another platform that Mediapress would support for attaching audio to via a link so users can attach audio files with? Also, I noticed that there is no function to add videos via a link on Mediapress. Will this be added in the future? Videos use even more space than audio so I would prefer not to allow video uploads or host it on my site.

    Could you kindly recommend some platforms that offer embeddable audio content so that we may assess their compatibility with MediaPress?

    Check the setting “Enable oembed support?” you can find it under MediaPress > Settings > General then Media Add/Upload Settings. If enabled, you can allow users to embed video using links.

    Hi Ravi,

    For the audio compatibility, I am not that familiar with sound hosting sites so don’t know a lot of them. I tested another random site, https://audio.com/ but it is also not supported. That is why I thought maybe rather than testing very single site I find, you would know which one might actually work. If not, I will just look for some sites and test them individually until I find one that works.

    And as for the video, it works now. Oembed was already enabled but earlier there was no place to add the video link. I tested it now and it is all good.

    Glad that video is now working for you.

    As I am not currently aware of specific sites that support embeddable audio content compatible with WordPress, I would appreciate it if you could verify and provide information on such platforms so that I can assists to further.
