Hi Carsten,
I am sorry but I am unable to reproduce your issue. Here are a few screenshots to show it working
1. Site admin user without any friend suggestion(twentysixteen theme)
https://i.imgur.com/1Ulp9OT.png2. Normal user with friends suggestion(twentysixteen theme)
https://i.imgur.com/28jCE9g.pngIt is working in both the cases. Also, I don’ see anything in the plugin that can cause the issue. Is it some js error?
The problem with the crop tool is created by Jetpack> Enable Lazy Loading for images
with this disabled and BuddyPress Friends Suggest inactive the crop tool is working normal:
With BuddyPress Friends Suggest active:

CarstenHi Carsten,
I don’t think that any issue is caused by the BP Friends suggest. Please use WP Staging plugin to create a staging environment and then check again.Like I showed you in my tests earlier, I don’t see the issue. If you can help me reproduce it, I will provide a solution.
Regards
BrajeshDid you test it with Jetpack installed and Lazy Loading enabled?
Bottom line is that Jetpack’s Lazy Loading makes the crop tool disappear, and with BuddyPress Friends Suggest widget, this

CarstenHi Carsten,
Jetpack’s lazyload as well as some other lazy load plugins are known to break BuddyPress profile photo upload.
What I don’t see is how the Friend suggest is breaking anything.
Please see what I see on my system using Nouveau template pack.
In your case, It is something else as we do not include any css with the plugin. And the js code is scoped to work inside “.suggested-friend-item-list” and “#members-suggestion-list”.

BrajeshYes, it must be some conflict with something else, which affects the photo crop to look like this, https://imgur.com/a/mCpycby, even with all plugins deactivated, except BP and Friends Suggest.
Thanks again.
You wrote: ‘About filtering based on Gender, I will suggest using member types for the gender. If you do that, It can be very easily and efficiently achieved.’
Can you describe this a little further, what you mean?

CarstenHi Carsten,
Does that work when Friend suggest is disabled. Try adding some other widget in the sidebar and then check? If yes, Is it the generatepress theme with legacy template pack? I will be glad to assist with it too. I will be assisting you further on Monday now.
For the member type based suggestion, I will be posting a blog post and linking by Monday evening/Tuesday morning. That can help more people.
Thank you
Brajesh
