[Resolved] Auto Logout when Marked as Spammer

    Hey Brajesh, hope you’re well?

    So, I’m using your ‘One Click Mark Spammer for BuddyPress’ plugin, which does auto delete a scammer, but only when they start navigating the site.

    The problem I have is that we use a third-party chat service that works without page load, so if the spammer trys to navigate the site they get logged out – perfect, but if they stay on the same page they’re able to continue to chat until they navigate away.

    What I need is, if a site admin marks a profile as a spammer then they are immediately logged out (without the spammer having to navigate the site first). Hope that makes sense and is possible?

    I am pushing an update to clear the user session on marking spam. That should fix it. Will let you know after posting the update.

    Hey Buddy, yeah, not too bad thanks, been struggling with Corona, but well on the mend now.

    Hi Rob,
    I hope you are safe. We are also under curfew for last 15 days and it has been difficult. Let us hope that this phase passes and things become normal again.

    I have updated the plugin. In the update, when a user is marked as spammer, I am clearing his session toke, so any new request should find the user as unauthenticated.

    I am hoping that the chat services integrates with WordPress/checks for WordPress user authentication.

    Please give it a try.

    Thanks Brajesh, appreciate that, but it’s still the same I’m afraid. It works if the spammer tries to navigate the site, but if they remain on the same page then they’re still left to chat as normal.

    Does WordPress check the status of a session token without page load? If not, is it possible once the session token has been destroyed to automatically force a logout of the spammer?

    Hi Rob,
    WordPress does.

    It seems you are using the 3rd party integration which does not check it.

    You can verify it by visiting activity page from a user account and then marking the user as spammer and try posting with that account. Even though the form is there, you won’t be able to post.

    If you are using a plugin for the integration, Please do ask them how to resolve it.
