[Resolved] Buddypress and Google

    Just wondering if anyone can clarify what is the situation with regard to Buddypress information eg. members info, activity etc showing up in search engines?

    I have used the BP Registration Options plugin to set Only registered or approved members can view BuddyPress/bbPress pages (Private Network) but not sure if search engines would respect such a request and/or if there are any other steps I should be taking to protect a private members’ site?

    With many thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    Hi Nik,
    Since you have made these pages private, There does not seem to be any issue with search engines.

    Right know, unless you are adding the BuddyPress pages explicitly(profile/groups) to the sitemap(using BuddyPress specific plugin), they are not even added by the popular seo plugins. So, I do not see any harm.

    Thank you so much Brajesh. I had always assumed this was the case but couldn’t find anything elsewhere to confirm or deny. As always, should have known I could rely on you/BuddyDev 😉
