Hi,
We have activated bp-anonymous-activity and enabled the feature in our forum. It works as expected, but I was under the impression that it would be easier for moderators and keymasters to identify the actual author behind an anonymous post.
As it seems to work now, we need to go into wp-admin → Topics or Replies, edit the specific content, check the Author field to find the user ID, and then manually look up that user. This feels a bit cumbersome from a moderation perspective.
It would be very helpful if moderators and keymasters could see the real username directly in the frontend (while it remains hidden for regular users), or at least have some simpler way of identifying the author without going through wp-admin and searching by ID.
Is there perhaps a setting or recommended approach that we have missed? Or would this be something that could be considered as an enhancement?
Hi Johan,
Thank you for using the plugin.I am sorry, we tried to keep the anonymous users anonymous completely(even from site admin). We can add a setting to make the anonymous post’s user visible to site admin/moderator.
By forum moderator, you mean BuddyPress group forum moderator?
Regards
BrajeshWe are still not sure about whether we should offer anonymous posting to our users. However, if we do, at the very least bbPress Keymasters need to be able to see who the actual author is. It would be enough if only Keymasters (not regular bbPress moderators) could see the real username.
There is something else that confuses me. When I post an anonymous reply, the user’s real name is still visible in notifications. On the plugin page it says
If you have bbPress to BuddyPress group forums integration enabled, it won’t support recording of anonymous activity of the anonymous forum topics/replies. The activity will show the actual user’s detail.
As far as I understand, we do not have bbPress to BuddyPress group forums integration enabled. If you mean the checkbox at the bottom of the bbPress settings page (just above the Akismet integration setting), that option is not enabled on our site. Group forums should therefore not be active. I cannot find any other related setting.
Still, the real username of the anonymous poster appears in notifications (for example, to the topic starter).
Am I misunderstanding something here? We do not want to disable all forum activity recording.
