Hello,
We’re looking at using BuddyPress Avatar Moderator on our platform that’s both website and app based. Would this plugin have any interaction with the BuddyPress REST API? At the minimum, we’re looking for admins to get an email notifying them of a new profile photo upload, when the photo is uploaded via the BuddyPress REST API.
Thanks.
Hi Nifty,
Thank you for the question.
At the moment, the actions fired by BuddyPress while using RSET API for avatar upload and the normal upload process are different. We will get back to you in next 2 days on REST compatibility.

BrajeshHi Brajesh,
We’ve been doing some testing; photo moderation through the BP REST API seems to be working nicely, thank you for your work on this. We are however experiencing errors on the website (blank red error box, browser console shows internal server error). The photo is uploaded fine and displays on the profile, upon page refresh, but without going into moderation.
We tested using a clean and latest version of BuddyPress (legacy template pack), default theme and latest WordPress. No other plugins were running apart from BuddyPress. The BuddyPress Avatar Moderator plugin was installed as a new install, not an update from a previous version.
We also wondered about a similar question to the below post, after experiencing the same issue (i.e. if a user already has an approved avatar and uploads a new avatar, it’s replaced with the placeholder photo). Has there been any updates on if it’s possible to keep the old avatar whilst the new avatar is under moderation (including if the new avatar is rejected)? We’ve tried removing the plugin’s default placeholder in the settings, but the default placeholder photo is still inserted.
