We recently installed the plugin “BuddyPress Notify Post Author on Blog Comment” because our authors were missing this functionality.

The notification itself is being sent correctly when someone comments on a blog post. However, we are experiencing an issue where the notifications appear to be automatically marked as read — even though the author has not opened the notification or visited the commented post.

On one occasion I briefly saw an unread notification, but in most cases they seem to be marked as read immediately.

Is this a known issue?
