I want to give Admin users the ability to send out bulk/mass emails to all users (or even better if they could define which users based on role, group or BBPress forums to which users are subscribed).

I note that BuddyPress has the option for Admin to “send a notice to all users” but I want them to be able to send users an actual email containing whatever text is entered.

This feels as if it should be a relatively common/simple requirement but I can’t find any obvious way (or plugin) to achieve it.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
