I need to add Name to registration which is required but can’t seem to find a way to do this. Right now, they have to fill out Username and Password, but I also need them to fill out Name, which is a profile field, but can’t add to the Signup fields.
I’m using BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Field Types as I thought I could add it to the registreation page this way, but it doesn’t work.

Hi Lisa,
Are you using Community Builder theme ?If yes, Please check if you have the Better Experience plugin enabled. Your issue seems like the setting from this plugin.
If you have this plugin enabled, Please visit Dashboard-> Settings->BuddyPress Better Experience and click on the “Registration” Tab.
There is an option “Use username for display name too?”. Please set it to “No”.
Let me know if it works or not?

Thank you for the reply.The only plugin which could cause this is BP Better Experience.
The other reason could be some css hiding the field.
Can you please link me to your registration page? I can quickly check if the field is hidden via css?
Also, by Name, I am assuming that you are referring to default BuddyPress Full Name field.

I am sorry for the delayed reply.
I had a look at your site and I don’t see any other reason except the Better Experience plugin causing it.Can you please temporarily disable the BP Better Experience plugin and then check the registration page again?

Can you give me code for the function file to add the username to this field automatically?

Can you please grant me temporary admin access on this site? The Username/Fullname fields are default fields and they have to be present out of the box unless something is removing them.As far as I see from your screenshot, your first name’s visibility was updated to adminonly by some plugin or code(BuddyPress does not provide you the option for that). Any chance that you used BuddyPress Xprofile Full Name sync or something similar in the past.
