Hi George,
The current lightbox enabling only works on activity. It is not enabled on single gallery/groups etc.We do have plans for future to do that but not right now. Do you think we should enable it on single gallery too quickly?
Hi George,
Thank you. I believe lightbox is the one weak area in MediaPress and we should definitely improve it. Please do let me know all your suggestions for improving this and I will have them in.I think the first thing to mention is that the lightbox does not display the original posters comment for the media item, I think this is important as it sets the context for the image. I think you should take the original posters comment and use that as the description for the item and display that at the top of the comments section.
Below this there should be a box saying comments to make it clear that you can comment on the image.
I tried loading BP Like to see how this interacted with the lightbox but that completely fell over and it seems that plugin no longer works. I would have expected the like box to allow you to like and favourite the media from the lightbox view, I notice you can’t favourite it.
The lightbox itself is not responsive to the sizing of the image to be displayed. In other words, of FB when it is a wide image you get a wide lightbox.
I found a version of Buddypress Likes that works and yes the lightbox did not allow me to like the image viewed. I think it should.
The point is for a lot of images the activity view is not detailed enough to know if you like it, so the lightbox view would be where you would know that and want to like and or favourite it. Also this is just how FB works.
Thank you George.
More is coming soon. Have finished 4 addons for MediaPress and going to work on a few more in next couple of days. Then, we will have it all 🙂Another thing to mention is that any images uploaded should have a simple social share option. I know this is down to related plugins but currently this is an option that seems missing and should definitely be a requirement for any social site, we can share our blogs, why not our photo’s?
