Tagged: limit by user role, mediapress
Hello,
I would like to request a feature that allows us to restrict the storage space of users for their media, according to their WordPress user role. For example, Authors can store 10mb but Editors can’t store anything and Admins can have unlimited storage.
Last month, when I had WordPress 6.5.4, I used a third party plugin called “Role Based storage Limit” to limit the amount of storage a user role had to upload media to their Mediapress gallery, and it worked fine, or at least seemed to. Since WordPress 6.5.5 (and now, 6.6.1), it seems “Role Based storage Limit” and Mediapress have a conflict and I can only set a global storage limit.
I would also like to point out that in the Mediapress settings, if I remove the storage quota (by default it is 5mb pr user and 10mb per group) so that the quota is blank (I was hoping that by removing this limit, Mediapress would not enforce a limit and I can use Role Based storage Limit to enforce the limit instead), it causes an error on the front end, so it seems the quota cannot be left blank. Otherwise, I was thinking, an easy way to do this would stop Mediapress enforcing the storage limit and use a third party plugin to enforce it, removing the conflict issue between the two plugins and removing the complicated process of adding extra functionalities to Mediapress.
Thank you

Thank you for posting. We have created a plugin with the name ‘MediaPress Flexible storage limit’ for such purpose. Please have a look here:
