I would like to suggest a new advanced buddypress search plugin, search on wordpress is terrible and the popular search plugin like SearchWP(https://searchwp.com/) doesnt really support buddypress.

I would suggest a plugin like the buddypress search plugin (https://github.com/wp-plugins/buddypress-global-search) having features like https://wordpress.org/plugins/full-screen-morphing-search/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/

The most important feature would be:
1. The ability to build a search index with option to either enable or disable the index feature
2. Support for custom post types

What are your thoughts on this
