Restricted create new site/blog by user role

    I’d like to sell users access to a well-supported blog with assistance in doing the basics (the user base is not very technical).

    I’d like to enable new blog registration but limit it to a user role. I tried using the free version of “Membership 2” but it does not offer that feature and also dropped the entire network to a 500 error while I was configuring it. I deactivated it via FTP and then uninstalled it.

    I’m happy to code my own solution if I have to (although I’ll have to ask a lot of questions to make it work).

    Can anyone make any recommendations?
