“Set it as default component” not working for new Group Tab for Private Groups

    Hello,

We are using “BuddyPress Group Tabs Creator Pro” to add a new Home tab for all groups navigation and setting this one as “default component”, with the intention that this new Home tab contents will load first when users try accessing the Group by it’s base slug. (e.g. http://localhost:8080/groups/inclusive-economic-growth).

This is working well as expected for all Groups that are “Public”. However, for those Groups that are “Private” the setting “Set it as default component?” checked in this new Home tab doesn’t takes into effect. For example, while trying to access a Private Group with his base slug URL (http://localhost:8080/groups/inclusive-economic-growth) it doesn’t load the set “default” tab. Instead, it keeps redirecting to the members tab (http://localhost:8080/groups/inclusive-economic-growth/members/all-members/).

Still, the new Home tab is present there in the Group horizontal menu, and it loads it’s page with the tab slug appended in the URL (http://localhost:8080/groups/inclusive-economic-growth/grouphome/)

Our expectation is that this new Home tab should load as default when loading the Group by his root URL slug (http://localhost:8080/groups/inclusive-economic-growth), regardless of the Group privacy settings.

The new Home tab is also enabled for “All” group privacy status. And the tab visibility is set to “Anyone”.

Need help to resolve this issue, it seems to us so far it might be a bug in the “BuddyPress Group Tabs Creator Pro” that needs to be addressed.

    Hi Rob,
Thank you for reporting the issue.

Please allow us 24 hours to check and push and update for it? I am assuming that you are using BuddyBoss? Is that corretc?

    Thank you

    Hi Rob,
    Thank you for the patience.

I have tested it and I see that it is intentional.

    1. Private groups should not be accessible to non members. It should show them request membership tab. Is there any chance you are checking as a site super administrator?

We do not set the default component for the private/hidden groups if the viewing user is not a member of the group. The reason is, these groups need special care and should not expose data to non members.

Please check and let me know if that is not the case.

    Regards
    Brajesh
