Regarding an embeddable audio content site: Soundcloud is a popular site where users can upload and listen to audio files. This would be a great site that Mediapress can accept adding an audio file via a link.

I have tested the updated Mediapress plugin with the current WordPress version (6.7) and I am here to report it works now, thank you very much.
I tested it by creating galleries for photos, audio, and video and they are all restricting the upload amount correctly. I also tested it with your Mediapress set cover plugin version 1.0.0 and that works too.
