Introducing BuddyPress Limit Friendship Plugin: Limit Number of Friends or Friendship requests on BuddyPress based social network

It is my pleasure to introduce the BuddyPress Limit Friendship plugin today. As a site owner, you can set the maximum no. of friends a user can have on your social network  using this plugin.

After setting a limit, you can select one of the two criteria to limit the friendship.

The criteria are:-

  • No. of Existing Friends
  • No. of Existing Friends + No. of Pending Friendship Request Sent & Received
Here is the admin screen(You can see it by going to Settings->BuddyPress->Settings)
When you select the criteria as No. of existing Friends, The plugin only checks for existing friends count(for both the users) and will limit the user to be added as friend or to add a new friend if they have exceeded the limit.

When you select the criteria as No. Of existing Friends + Friendship Requests, the plugin will check for both the users that they don't have crossed the limit(The sum of Friendship Requests sent, which is pending; The friendship requests received  which is not approved and the total no. of exiting friends is less than the allowed limit for both the users).

This plugin is also compatible with our Extended Friendship request plugin.

Here is an example of what happens when a user tries to add new friend.

The best use case will be to use this plugin in a membership based site and ask users to upgrade account for more friends or to use it as a tool for spam control(Do not allow too many friends quickly).

For now, I have allowed users to accept any pending request they already have even if the limit is over. Please do let me know if you don't want that and I will include it.

        Hi, good plugin. But I think, in order to limit spam, this plugin need the following option:
        No. of Friendship Request Sent in a day
        So the administrator can limit user that send a lot friendship request.

    Hi @sbrashes Thank's for your reply. I have solved this problem with your plugin, but I have a problem with your other plugin (https://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-notify-post-author-blog-comment/).
    There is:

    Hi @sbrajesh, I bought one month in order to download your plugins. I have installaded:
    1. BP Default Email Notification Settings Control
    2. BP Friends Limit
    3. BuddyPress Limit Friendship Reqest

    But if I go to SETTING I only can seen "user notification email setting" ("BP Default Email Notification Settings Control"), and I don't found the other two plugins. Where are installated the other two plugins? If I don't found the other two plugins I can't setting them.

    Thank's for your answer you sent me in my mail. Now I can seen plugin in dashboard => BuddyPress.
    I also want use FACEBOOK CONNECT PLUS, but your plugin only import FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, LINK TO FACEBOOK PROFILE, and don't import BIRTHDAY, FACEBOOK USERNAME, USER HOMETOWN, USER CURRENT LOCATION, etc. etc…
    I will open a reply in BUDDYDEV FACEBOOC CONNECT PLUS PAGE, in order to mean a conversation about thi plugin in the correct page.
