Introducing BuddyPress Limit Friendship Request Plugin: Rate limit the friendship requests on your Social Network
Today, As promised earlier, I am releasing the BuddyPress Limit Friendship Request plugin. The plugin allows you to throttle the friendship requests sent by a user on your BuddyPress based Social Network.
As a Site Administrator, you can set the time interval and the maximum no. of requests a user can send. In simple terms, the plugin allows you to rate limit the no. of friendship requests a user can send during a particular time interval.
The aim of BuddyPress Limit Friendship Request Plugin is to demotivate the spammers from sending a lot of friendship requests quickly.
Here is an example, how it works:-
- Let us assume the admin set the criteria as 10 requests per 20 minutes
- Assume User A adds friend 1 at 10: 11 AM
- Now, let us say the user A adds more friends and reaches the limit of 10 requests by 10:18 AM
- Once the limit is reached, user A won't will be able to add another friend till 10:32 AM(Since the 1st one was added at 10:11 AM, the plugin checks for the no. of requests in last 20 minutes )
I hope that clarifies the use case.
