I did the updates to wp and buddy press and now I have some functionality that does not work:
1. cannot see activity stream for members
2. cannot see group activity

You are using Bp mag theme, right! I will have a minor update for it to make it work with BuddyPress 1.5. So, that will fix the first 3 issues.
For membership, you can give a try to S2Member plugin. Though It is not the best, It is good enough to get the membership site working.
