Hello guys
I wanted to make a new topic on this, since I noticed some more “bugs”/compatibility issues.
1. Breaks the search page from Global Search when users that are inactive on the site is included in the search results. This means that you can’t show any activity or use pagination if the next content contains a user that is marked inactive. It simply will not go to the page or show any activity/content that might include that inactive user on the display page.
2. Users that are marked inactive are not hidden within bbPress and all their topics and replies are still available in the forums.
3. It breaks the theme (activity wall) when a user that is inactive is logged in. For this reason, I can’t give my users the option to even login – however from my point of view I only use it to activate/deactivate users from back-end now anyways, so this is not too big of a concern for me at the moment.
4. Users can still visit the user’s profile (that are inactive) through direct link /members/*inactive user*/. It would be nice to have a message on the user page letting people know that the user is inactive, letting other users know.
I understand that you can’t cover every single plugin on the market, but I feel like Global Search is common for people to use – and specially bbPress should also be hiding the content for sure. The reason being that the user maybe has gotten deactivated because of not respecting guidelines or spamming and for that reason it would be nice to have the option to not show that content to other users.
This is the last bug I need fixed on my site, for it to be launched (besides some MediaPress / Anonymous compatibility settings that Brajesh is working on now too).
Hope you’re able to help me fix this, thank you once again! π
WordPress: v. 6.7
BuddyPress: v. 14.2.1
BuddyPress Global Search: v. 1.2.1
bbPress: v. 2.6.11Hi Katrine,
Thank you for posting it again.1. As I explained previously, BuddyPress Global Search is not maintained and It has been taken down from WordPress.org due to security issues. Please avoid using it.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-global-search/It is no longer available, so we are unable to test the issue you are referring to.
2. That is expected behaviour. this plugin doe snot deal with the forums part. I am not sure if we can make it work efficiently. I will be updating you on this in next 24 hours.
3. Plea provide a copy of your theme. I lack access to Cera. It seems it is theme specific issue(mis placed hook in the theme).
4. Thank you. On deactivation we only limit the deactivated users, not the other users. We can hide the single profile if you need it. I will add an option in the update to allow hiding user profile.
Thank you
BrajeshHello again
Thank you for the fast reply. It has now been deleted. π
Please let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks! π
Hi Katrine,
Thank you for the reply.I am hoping to be able to assist you with it by 25th or 26th.
Regards
BrajeshHello again
I’m just curious about if there is an update with this? I know youβre probably super busy! π
Also, I noticed that MediaPress created galleries in groups, despite users unchecking the checkmark (deciding not to assign a gallery with the group). Not sure why? Same goes for BuddyPress Docs, so that is kind of fun. π
Anyways let me know what you think π
Thanks
Hello again
Another small thing for the list, would it be possible to update the “BuddyPress Activity Privacy” plugin to have the settings in an actual container on the Profile > Settings page? π
Hello again
Yet another issue I found.
When my users signup they’re setup in the “Basic” role. This role is not able to see the BuddyPress pages and other relevant content – before! – they have picked a membership (standard or premium).
I would like to use the “BuddyPress Profile Completion” plugin, but in this case I need “restrictions” so it dosen’t force completion of the specific user role (basic) – and only “works” once the user is marked as “standard or premium”.
Hope it makes sense? π
