[Resolved] BuddyBlog + privacy

    I’m using BuddyBlog for front-end posting for my buddypress site. Most of the permissions issues I’ve been having across the site are well sorted, except for the blog. BuddyBlog appears to not have any buddypress Blog privacy settings.

    It would be understandable if it were profile based. If a profile was set to “friends-only”, then only friends could view a user’s blogs – would be fine. However when a profile is set to “friends-only” anyone who comes to the site can view any blog from this supposedly private user.

    It’s possible I’ve missed something obvious 🙂

    Perhaps you have a helpful suggestion…?

    Hi Richard,

    I am sorry but it needs to be handled on your own. WordPress posts are public by nature and we do not intend to modify any default behaviour. The goal of BuddyBlog is to allow create/edit and list. You can modify the listing using WP_Query.

    Here is what I will suggest.

    1. adding a meta field dropdown for privacy(User can select who can see)
    2. In the posts.php, using that to filter out the posts

    hi Brajesh,

    yes, that’s helpful. Even if only to know that it won’t work “out of the box”. I realize buddyblog is intended as a simple blog posting plugin so this kind of facility is unsupported. Thanks for your prompt and clear feedback.
