[Resolved] Buddypress Anonymous Activity

    Hi

    Can this plugin be limited to work in only certain groups, or does activating it make it possible to post anonymously everywhere on the site? Ideally I’d like to be able to have one or two anonymous groups/forums using Buddypress and BBpress.

    Welcome to BuddyDev forums.

    Thank you for the questions.

    1. Limiting to certain groups:- We can help you with it. By default, It makes posting all site Activity updates anonymous.

    2. It does not make the bbPress topic notifications anonymous and we do not enable bbPress support out of the box.If you need it, we have this functionality in the plugin(can be triggered via code). We do not recommend as the notification mails for forum topics are not anonymous.

    Hi Nicola,
    We will add a hook and you can let that to enable/disable for certain groups. Will that work for you or you need some kind of UI?

    If we plan a UI, should we allow group admins to enable/disable it?

    A UI would be preferable to make it easier to work with…where would I use the hook if it was just that?

    I’m not a php expert by any stretch 🙂

    It would actually be great to be able to have a fully anonymous group – so it can be set to by default post anonymously in a group.

    My application is to encourage radiologists to share their clinical mistakes and an anonymous group was felt to be the best way to do this. Even just shifting the default to anonymous so they have to select to reveal their identity instead of selecting to have it anonymous in there would be good.

    We will add it in next 2 days to enable/disable for specific group activity.

    I am not sure about the viability of an anonymous group. Technically it is doable but it will need co-ordination from 3rd party plugins to work without revealing the personalised details.

    Thanks…Ideally I’d like to have it just be the selected groups to be able to be anonymous – i.e not in status updates or elsewhere. Is that possible?
