    Hi,
I’m using the latest BuddyBoss with the latest BuddyPress Editable Activity plugin as of today. By default with BuddyBoss, when someone enters a link there’s a link preview with a picture, like when you post a link on other social media. When the post is edited with the BuddyPress Editable Activity plugin, it does not put back the link preview when it posts the update so turns the post to as appear as only plain text if it’s edited, making someone delete and repost anyway to get the link preview back. I disabled almost every other plugin other than some security and essentials and it’s still doing it. Is there any way to allow editing of BuddyBoss activity posts using this and keeping the link previews on a post?
    Thank you!

    Hello Arlo,

    Welcome to the BuddyDev Forums.

With BuddyBoss you do not need BuddyPress Editable Activity plugin as it does offer this functionality in the core. You can enable it from BuddyBoss > Settings > Activity > Edit Activity

    Please check

The reason I got this is that I am unable to edit using the core BuddyBoss plugin. I already had it enabled and tried both allowing people to edit “Forever” and “30 days” but it did not do anything. it was not working to allow activity to be edited, so I added this. I could see the little eclipses next to posts that you’d think would give an edit popup, but you can’t click on them or anything. This gives a clear edit link though, it just takes out the link preview from posts when people edit them. I like having a clear link that says edit which this gives too, if it can work to not take out the link preview or put those back in after an edit. Does that sound like an option? If it’s BuddyBoss that is broken not giving an intended option, or maybe my PHP is too up to date, I’ll try to figure out what’s going on but without this BuddyBoss users currently do not have a functional option to edit posts so if it can preserve the preview links that would be really nice.
    Thanks Ravi,
    Aurelio

    Hello Arlo,

Thank you for the acknowledgement. I have checked BuddyBoss edit activity functionality on my local server and it is working fine for me. Please have a look at the console window of your browser is there any error is showing or not. There might be a chance that some error is breaking the edit button behaviour.

    Regards
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
Thank you for your help figuring out what was going on. I removed BuddyBoss and enabled BuddyPress instead, and added the Activity Plus Reloaded for BuddyPress plugin for the link previews. I liked the link previews being automatic like in BuddyBoss, but I also like the way Activity Plus Reloaded for BuddyPress embeds the code in the post so when you edit you can clearly see the code for the preview and edit around it. It seems more flexible, and people can learn to insert the link that way and then edit it adding things around the code. This particular feature is working great with the BuddyPress and Activity Plus Reloaded for BuddyPress plugins. I will probably need a bit more plugins if I use BuddyPress instead of BuddyBoss for this and maybe should have bought one of the packages though.. 🙂

    Thank you!

Is there any way to just upgrade or get any credit towards a membership? I had incorrectly accidentally gotten this for BuddyBoss at first, because I was not seeing the option to edit posts. Thank you for pointing out that BuddyBoss should have had that ability, and I tested that this works great with BuddyPress. I moved to BuddyPress and this is great. I would like to purchase some of your other cool-looking premium plugins and one thing I would need is your Activity Privacy one too I think. After testing the Editable Activity plugin with BuddyPress I would much prefer BuddyPress using these and some other ones in the Buddy Essentials membership please.
    Thank you, either way!
