    Can you tell me what this feature does?

    If you click on WP Dashboard > Forums > all forums > la playa > forum attributes ? type = “Forum” and “Category” are the two choices

    what does this type attibute control?

    Hi Shelley,
    in bbPress, The forum category is something you will use to organize forums(make it act as parent).

    The main difference from normal forums is that a user can not post directly to the Forum Category while they can post to any forum(including a forum containing sub forum).

    In other words, you are creating a non writable parent forum (when category is selected) and use it to only organize sub forums.

    Is there any way to categorize forum topics instead of adding tags to them? Especially would need the user to be able to categorize the forum topics.

    If you are trying to let members choose category,
    There is no such functionality available for bbPress forums.

    Still, Doesn’t forums themselves act as the way to categorize topics?
