I am getting a “HTTP error” error when uploading images via Media Press. Image uploads work fine using other WordPress components but not with MediaPress. I first noticed this today but I know that it worked as of a couple weeks ago. For every image I attempt to upload either on my wall or in a new gallery, I get an error like “869b9a1b99ec6a764b94343e2c5226dc.jpg(38 kb)x HTTP error.” with the name of the file, size, then “HTTP error”. If I then open the gallery, it appears as if the image is uploaded successfully but the thumbnail isn’t successfully generated therefore leaving the default thumbnail “https://www.mysoulrebel.com/wp-content/plugins/mediapress/templates/mediapress/default/assets/images/photo-thumbnail.png”.

If you look at the page “https://www.mysoulrebel.com/gallery/” you will see 6 galleries, 4 with valid thumbnail cover images, and 2 without. The 2 without are the ones I created today when I first noticed this problem. Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Chris,
I am sorry, Th HTTP Error is a strange one for us too as I don’t remember seeing it recently.

    1. Is there any chance you are using multiple media plugin or media optimization plugins
    2. Can you please check if there is space available for uploads(upload quota).

If these two are fine, then you may want to take a look at this blog post and try there suggestions.

Please let me know if anything from the above work or not?

    Regards

    Hello Brajesh,

There is plenty of space available for uploads and as indicated, the image is successfully uploaded but there seems to be a failure in the generation of the thumbnail and that is when the “<file name>.jpg(38 kb)x HTTP error.” appears. I am not aware of additional media plugins. I downloaded BuddyBoss and MediaPress and it was working fine but suddenly stopped. I’m shocked nobody else has run into this but it is extremely aggravating because all photo uploading functionality via BuddyBoss now doesn’t work properly.

    Hi Chris,
    Thank you for the details.

I am sorry, MediaPress does not support BuddyBoss. We only provide support for uploading with BuddyPress. The reason is BuddyBoss having a native media component, we decided to avoid duplicating of efforts.

Please disable MediaPress and visit Dashboard->BuddyBoss->Settings to enable their media component.

    Hello Brajesh,

I figured out the problem. I am using MediaPress because I need the Watermark functionality and I don’t see that available in BuddyBoss. The problem that was occurring is the Watermark image that I was using could not be found therefore the error that occurred was during the watermarking process which then messed up the thumbnail generation processes. After pointing at the right watermark image, the photo upload now works. Thanks.

    Hi Chris,
Thank you for sharing the details and solution.

Yes, that could have corrupted the image and caused this issue. Thank you for letting us know.

    Regards
    Brajesh
