Issues with Buddypress follow suggestion plugin

    When the follow button is clicked in the follow suggestion widget, the followed user still continues to to show. Worst part is that when the page is refreshed, follow suggestion shows for the same followed user again and when the follow button is clicked again, a message is displayed that the user has been followed already. Please fix the issue. It is so embarassing, I have had to remove the widget because of this.

    Hi Michael,
    I am sorry for the inconvenience.

    can you please provide me the following details:-

    1. are you using BuddyPress or BuddyBoss
    2. are you using any major plugin that have effect on friends/follow
    3. Are there any page caching/database caching plugin enabled?

    The Friend suggestions clears the suggestions cache as soon as a user is followed/added as friend.

    Please let me know the above and we can quickly look into the issue.

    Hi Brajesh,

    1. are you using BuddyPress or BuddyBoss
    I am using buddypress.

    2. are you using any major plugin that have effect on friends/follow
    I am using Youzer plugin but I don’t think it has any effect on friends/follow.

    3. Are there any page caching/database caching plugin enabled?
    There is no cache being used.

    Please check from your side to reproduce the issue.

    Thank you for the details. Yes, there was in issue with excluding followed users. We have it fixed now.

    Please upgrade to 1.0.1

    Hi Brajesh,

    Thanks for the update. However, suggested members are still showing in the widget when follow is clicked, this time with an option to unfollow displayed. Although after page reload/refresh the followed member does not show in the widget again.

    Is it possible to make the suggested member disappear from the widget immediately after follow is clicked without having to refresh the page. I think this should be the ideal way the widget should function.

    Hi Mike,
    Thank you for the feedback.

    This was intentional. We need to provide some feedback to the user and I do not see any way better than this.

    You will find that we remove an entry when a user clicks on the cross(x) symbol. We could do the same for this too but it might be confusing.

    If you think it is important, I will go with a middle path and put an option in the widget to perform after request action.
