.mov upload

    I am a complete WP novice. How can I have mediapress upload .mov files and will the WP media player now play these files? .mov is so common thanks to the amount of apple products out there, it seems like madness to me that we can’t allow upload and. Play them

    Hi Steve,
    Welcome to BuddyDev.

    I know it seems strange that .mov is not playable but there goes a lot behind it.
    mov is not a supported html5 playable media format.

    We use the default player that comes with WordPress, It is only capable to playing html5 supported media formats.

    There is a way that people use to make .mov files playable. It is done via transcoding. Converting one format to another.

    We do have a plugin that transcodes locally(It needs FFMPEG software on the server). This works for normal sites but it wont be a good idea for larger sites.

    I have another issue, mediapress seems not to work in safari when I test site functions on my iPad.
    Is this normal?

    Hi Brajesh,
    sorry should have been more specific.
    It does not open the file folder in safari when i try to upload a image by clicking ‘select Files’ .
    I have tried it with chrome on the ipad and it functions fine

    1. Is it happening on activity upload screen?
    2. Can you please visit a single gallery and check if uploads on single gallery are working?

    It’s strange. I am aware of issues on activity page due to changing of the allowed file types but haven’t heard about this on single gallery earlier.
