Is there a way to search and create a Directory Search Field based only on a piece of usermeta already stored in the database?

I have a user meta already for each user $member_number, I just need to add a way in BuddyPress for people to search by it.

So basically instead of searching by a first name or a last name, searching by member number?

    Hello Brandi,

Thank you for posting. There is a plugin which allows member to search based on their profile data. Please check and let me know if it will help you or not.
