We are trying to replace the Default BuddyPress Edit Profile screen with a new one we’ve created called My Profile that’s loading a modified profile form.

Is there a way to put our NEW My Profile link in the Admin Bar BuddyPress top right menu? I have been able to hide the default Edit Profile link by putting my-account-xprofile-edit in the Subnav I created to HIDE the Default BuddyPress Edit Profile screen, but can not figure out how to SHOW the new My Profile link in that menu.

    Thanks-
    Jesica

I should have mentioned our setup:

    NEW PROFILE TAB:
My Profile: slug = profile so that it renames the Profile Link My Profile.
    TAB SETTINGS:
    Is enabled
    Modifying Predefined Tab
    Update Label
Adminbar Item ID – trying nav-account-xprofile

    SUBNAV 1:
    Is enabled
    Label: Edit Profile
    Slug: edit-profile
    Content: shows our replacement form

SUBNAV 2: to hide the default Edit Profile screen
    Is enabled
    Is existing
    Label: Default Edit Profile
    Slug: edit
    Add This Tab For: None
    Visible For: None
    Adminbar Item ID: my-account-xprofile-edit

    Hi Jesica,
Thank you for using the plugin.

Please make sure the option “Add to admin bar?” is enabled for the new tab.

Also, if it is a new profile tab, I will suggest avoiding use of existing slug e.g “profile”.

    Regards
    Brajesh

    Hi there-

I’d tried previously and do have “Add to admin bar” selected now but still not getting the new Edit Profile link to appear.
    SUBNAV 1:
    Is enabled
    Label: Edit Profile
    Slug: edit-profile
    Add to admin bar? CHECKED
    Content: shows our replacement form

HOWEVER I will say since you mentioned: if it is a new profile tab, I will suggest avoiding use of existing slug e.g “profile”.

I’m open to suggestions for configuration. This is not a new Profile tab, I’m Renaming the existing Profile tab to read “My Profile”. In the renamed Tab I have the NEW Edit Profile subnav with our replace Edit Profile form.

I’m renaming instead of creating a brand new My Profile tab because in the BuddyPress menu I need…
My Profile link but with the standard BuddyPress Edit Profile sublinks for:
    View
    Change Profile Photo
    Change Cover Image
PLUS our new Custom Edit Screen named Edit Profile

    Thanks so much-

    Hi Jesica,
I am sorry for the delayed reply. We have been closed due to holidays here and haven’t been able to assist you in time. I sincerely apologize for it.

Is there any chance you can provide me temporary admin access to the site. I can quickly check and update settings and let you know what was the issue.

    Thank you
    Brajesh

    Hi,
The issue was the admin bar id was incorrect. It should have been “my-account-xprofile” instead of “nav-account-xprofile”

Please check if it working correctly now.

    Regards
    Brajesh

Oh I see, thank you so much.

I also see the issue from our other question is now gone.
    https://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/user-profile-tabs-left-admin-bar-shows-new-renamed-tabs/

I think it’s due to the admin bar ID change above.

    Thanks so much-

Thank you for the reply and confirming.
Yes, it was the admin bar id.

    Regards
    Brajehs
