Hello,
I found there is no Mediapress page in Buddypress setting page, so I created one:
after that, both the media button on BP activity page and post button disappear in PC mode:
But it show in Mobile mode, and can upload images:

Also, I found when I want to insert some images there is no button to attached images.
and I found this plugin is not work with latest BBPRESS: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-multi-image-uploader/
It works well before, you might like to have a check and make it work too:)

I just tired again with subscriber role, and the role of administrator can not upload, but he subscriber can upload.

Thanks, It is great to make it work with login with Ajax.
As to Multisite-auth, there is built-in registration form, if you like to try live checking with it too, I can write it’ author to check whether he can help. But if not, that is fine.
If possible, let me know after your update lib checking plugin.
