No, I meant my tutorials using Justin Hansen’s plugin.

Oh, I see what you meant. When you modified your plugin the other week. It helped, but I needed finer control, that Justin’s just didn’t allow.

I also needed a way to default to “hidden” on registration, so the nicename didn’t reveal the username before I got a chance to change it to a Member ID number.

    Hi Brajesh,

Yes, hiding a member from the directory also hides them from the core widgets.

I guess I tried so many combinations I didn’t see that effect.

    Sorry to have bothered you.

The location filter works well too, sending people to a page saying they don’t have the permissions to see a profile.

Now all I have to do is redo all my tutorials and screenshots on privacy settings!

    Cheers,
    Graham

I see we both found the same error entry for #2.

Yes, I understand now. I thought those widgets were part of your plugin. Didn’t realize they had nothing to do with you.

Your widget doesn’t show hidden members. So I’m clearer now on what is causing my problem.

    Thanks for your patience,
    Graham

    Hi Brajesh,

Was just about to post the fix for #2.

Found the problem with other people seeing a user’s recent visitors.

    In /wp-content/plugins/recent-visitors-for-buddypress-profile/visitors-component.php

    Line 89 is:

    if ( ! $show ) {

    Should be:

    if ( ! $is_enabled ) {

Will update and see how things go.

Also just realized even logged out guests can see who visited a member by clicking on the visitors tab on their profile page.

Reading back on past posts about that issue, you should not be able to see that sort of information. It shows as “Your Visitors”, to the public.

    Hi Brajesh,

There appears to be two separate problems, which may or not be related.

Your updated version does hide the user from the Member’s directory. I can’t actually remember whether the previous version did or not.

The issue that is causing me concern is the original one that I raised. Maybe I didn’t explain it very well.

When I hide the user, they still appear in the widgets.

They show if “online now”, “visited recently” and under “members” (newest, active, popular).

Admittedly that doesn’t reveal any profile information, but they still appear, despite choosing to be hidden.

I can’t see any options in the widgets themselves, or in the plugin settings in the admin panel.

I hope this makes sense. If it is not possible to filter what the widgets display, please let me know. I may be asking for something that cannot be done.

    Thanks for your efforts,
    Graham

    Thanks Brajesh,

I only paid for one month’s support for the plugin, and only have less than two weeks left to iron out the bugs.

    No problems Brajesh,

Take your time. It’s not critical.

Just wanted to know if you were still aware of the request.

    Hi Brajesh,

Just wondering if you have had time to look at this issue yet?

    Hi Brajesh,

    No need to apologise.

Yes I can wait, I do not have many members yet, so it is not critical.

I really didn’t want to have to buy another plugin and have to redo how things work.

If you can get BuddyPress Recent Profile Visitors to not show hidden members, that would be great.

    Cheers,
    Graham
