This works like a charm, thanks a lot!

I’m afraid this path won’t help me. Like Brajesh said, group types are not groups but categories.
What I am looking for is a way to create subgroups *inside* a group in order to achieve scenarios like
– all subgroups share the same documents, the same course etc.
– each subgroup has its own forum.I guess I’d better find a way to create forum-specific groups, not Buddypress subgroups.
Thank you both for your suggestions anyway.

AFAIK a main tab will do; I guess it would get too complicated if you added subtabs too.

OK, thanks. In the mean time: is there a way to achieve this through some custom function?

I exported an XML from an external site and then imported in into my BP site through WP Importer.

Where exactly should I add these keys (I am not a programmer)?

OK, thank you!
So a post with category A assigned, but created outside of group A (e.g. imported from another blog or existing post given a new category) will still be publicly visible, is that right? - Hugo Callens on October 5, 2018 at 3:17 pm in reply to: [Resolved] [Blog categories for groups] Blogs are visible in Google! #17863
Yes I would like to restrict the visibility to logged in group members only.
So posts in category A can only be seen by group A, posts in category B only by group B etc. and are not to be found in Google.
How can I do that, using pre_get_posts you mentioned? - Hugo Callens on September 21, 2018 at 5:26 pm in reply to: [Resolved] [Blog Categories For Groups] Auto-creating & selecting cats for groups #2 #17528
I investigated a bit further.
This time I set “Allow post author to enable/disable comment?” and “Enable Taxonomy?” to yes.
Then I added the bp-custom plugin to auto-assign a category. Now it works as expected.
A few suggestions/feature requests:
1. change “Allow post author to enable/disable comment?” to “Comment options” with the following options: enable comments/disable comments/allow post author to enable/disable comments
2. Integrate your auto-assign category script in the plugin. Thanks for your help!
