Tagged: media, moderator, no report link, problem
I’ve just purchased Media Moderator for use with MediaPress.
Nowhere on the site (media areas) is any “Report” button/link visible. I’ve enabled everything under the Settings->Moderation menu. I’ve used several different themes, including TwentySixteen. Not a sign of any moderation plugin in the front-end, anywhere. Perhaps I’m missing something obvious, but assistance appreciated.
Cheers

and yes, I’ve tried using TwentySixteen theme and disabling all plugins, (except of course BuddyPress, MediaPress and MediaModerator). Still no “Report” button/link visible anywhere near any media. :\
H Richard,
Thank you for purchasing the plugin. Please visit Dashboard->MediaPress->Settings->Moderate(tab on settings page).
Please make sure you have reporting by user enabled here.
Also, It won’t show the button for the uploader to their own media, so please make sure you are looking at someone else’s media.
Please check and let me know if it works for you or not?
Thank you
Brajeshhi Brajesh,
thanks for getting back to me promptly. Yep, I’ve done all of that, and I’m looking at a third-party media post. No “Report” link anywhere. I’m also working locally (testing offline), so please don’t ask about admin access 🙂
I’ve tried to upload screenshots, but I don’t seem to be able to do that here…

Hi Richard,
I am sorry for the trouble.
Which version of MediaPress are you using?Thank you
BrajeshThank you.
It seems some issue in 1.0.2. Please allow me 30 minutes to test and report.Thank you
BrajeshNo stress, it’s probably something minor. We just need to identify what 🙂
These are the 3 active plugins:
Version 2.9.1 BuddyPress
Version 1.2.0 MediaPress
Version 1.0.2 MediaModerator
I’ve sent several screenshots via email.

Hi Richard,
My apologies. Here is the cause of confusion.1. A user who is capable to deleting media(like the owner of the media or the site admin) will not see a report button as they can directly delete media.
Please login as normal user and give it a try. Even I had forgot that we had this condition in the plugin.
Please let me know if you see the button or not?
Thank you
Brajeshhi Brajesh,
yes, that was it! I was testing with an admin user, which was in this case not very helpful. Thanks very much for clearing that up. Let’s close this ticket.
However, I’ve not used the plugin long, but based on this short experience, I’d like to suggest a couple of (hopefully minor) things which would greatly improve the plugin.
1. The assumption that the user-with-power-to-delete actually *wants* to delete the image, is in our case invalid. Better is that all users can “Report” the media, regardless of whatever else they may be able to do.
2. When providing the default “Title” and “Description” fields for the Report itself, I’d suggest making an admin-setting to specify a short popup list of options.
Select:
Invalid remark
Pornographic content
Copyright infringement
Day of the week
OtherBesides that, thanks very much for the (as always) prompt and helpful response!

Hi Richard,
Thank you.
1. Sure. I feel that it is going to lead to many people wondering, so yes. I will update the condition.
2. That’s a good idea, will have it in our next version. There is one more thing that we had delayed in initial release, It is bulk approve/delete. Will will be adding this by the weekend and the new version will be available by 13th(Moday) with all these.
Thank you
Brajesh
