    Hello,

    in great need of assisance.

Firstly, thank you for providing useful plugins (I use a few of them).

I was referred here by the WordPress.com support because of plugin: BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Field Types.

    Information:
    WordPress Version 6.5.3
    BuddyPress Version 12.4.1
BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Field Types Version 1.2.7
    Theme: BuddyX Child Version: 4.5.8
    Multisite: No
    Subdomain: No

    The issue is:

I have a few Profile Field Groups, they all work fine except for this one that I am restricting to certain Member Types.

On Member Profile Settings a menu link should be visible to these certain member types. However it goes back and forth (flickering) between being visible and invisible with no regard to member set type.

    – I have uninstalled plugins to try locate the cause of this
    – I have cleared both browser cache and WP cache
    – I do not know when this issue started (the website does not yet have many members and I have been developing the website a lot every day)
    – I wanted to use the sy info plugin that you recommend but it is no longer available to dl

I’m hoping you can help me solve this
    Thx

(Not sure where to post this, I apologise if I chose the wrong forum)

    Hello Angelina,

Welcome to the BuddyDev forums and thank you for using our plugins. Please let me know the following things:

    1. Flicker menu what menu are you referring to I am assuming you are referring to the edit profile page with profile groups as navigational tabs.
    2. Which plugin you are using to restrict profile groups based on member types? Are you using “BP Profile Data Control” by BuddyDev or is there any other plugin?
    3. Have you checked by switching to the default theme there might be chances that your theme is causing this issue.
    4. Please point me to the plugin where we have mentioned the plugin “sy info plugin”

    Regards
    Ravi

Thank you for the welcome and for replying on my post.

    1.

A screenshot can help me explain how I mean:
    https://bygrace.faith/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/menu.png

The red circled *Profile Settings* menu.

In this screenshot there are four links in the Profile Settings menu, these are:
    – Base
    – Tags
    – My Testimony
    – My Baptism Story

At time I took this screenshot, one link is missing from this menu. It is the one that goes back and forth between being visible and invisible seemingly with no rhyme or reason.

    2.

I do not believe I am using any plugin to restrict profile groups. I believe this option comes with WordPress, but I could be mistaken?

Again, a screenshot can help with explanation:
    https://bygrace.faith/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Member-Type.png
(the irrelevant is whited out for simplicity)

    – First I created the *Member Type* titled “Christian Creator”

    – Using the same screenshot for reference, in the Users menu only one step above Member Types we see *Profile Fields*. This is where I have created a Field Group with content available only to this Member Type “Christian Creator” (and Admin and Moderators).

And this creates a Link in the menu in Profile Settings, as in point 1.

(My thought is that this possibility comes from WordPress and not any plugin?)

    3.

By Default Theme, do you mean BuddyX instead of BuddyX Child? Or the Standard WordPress theme?

    4.

My mistake, autocorrect hindered me to type Sysinfo.

    Hello Angelina,

Thank you for sharing the details. This issue is not related to the ‘BP Xprofile Custom Field Types’ and as per the screenshots It seems you are using the Youzify plugin so in my suggestion, reaching out to either the BuddyX theme author or the Youzify plugin author could be beneficial. They should be able to provide you with the support and guidance you need to resolve the issue smoothly.

    Regards
    Ravi

This plugin is then checked off as not the cause of issue and I shall contact Youzify, great idea!

    Thanks for your help, Ravi.
