[Resolved] Auto Join groups doesn’t work

    Hi Brajesh,

    I dont’t use a third party plugin for registration. We set the default WP setting to pending and then switch to subscriber manually after reviewing. So a new user should join the chosen group as soon as the role has been switched to subscriber, right?

    Thank you for the reply.

    I am sorry but I do not see nay way in BuddyPress to set the default role to pending. Are you referring to the Dashboard->Settings-> Default role? That will have no effect.

    the code works on account activation. If you or the user “Activate” their account or Update their Profile(edit profile), they will get assigned to the groups.

    In all other cases, there will be no effect.

    In your case, I am assuming they will get assigned to the group before you change their role(I am assuming when the user activates account, their role is being marked as pending).

    Thank you for making this clear. So even when the WP default role is set to pending, a new user gets access to a BP group anyway?

    Yes, they will be added to the group even when their role is pending.
