I did not test it with BuddyBoss but it should work with that too.
I am sorry but I am confused, If it is working on page refresh, what is the issue you are facing?

Did you upload to your own profile or someone else’s .
I just tested this and it is working for me properly.
Other plugins should not have effect on it.
