  1. Hi, I am new to BuddyPress would like to change some of the wording on the site, for example the "New Topic" button. I have read about the .pot files but am really looking for some step by step instructions - maybe there's a plugin?

    Thanks

  3. Hi Craig,
    sorry for getting back late.

You will need a translation tool like poedit
    http://www.poedit.net/

Then you will need to look into the bp-languages directory and open the po file in the translation tool.
once you get that file in the translation tool, translate the texts and save the file.
Now you will get a mo file generated.

Save the generated file as buddypress-your_Local.mo (e.g buddypress-en_US.mo) and save it either in the wp-content directory or bp-languages directory.

Now you can open your site and see the changes.

  4. No problem, thanks Brajesh... looks like I was on the right track.

I would assume a number of files have already been translated into different languages and are available for download?

  5. You are right.
Are you looking for BuddyPress translations or translations of the various plugins ?
For BuddyPress, you can find links to many translations in the right sidebar of this codex page
