Hi Brajesh
Ah OK… that does make more sense now. Of course, you can also favourite/like bbPress topics (albeit not replies) but I’m now starting to wonder if that’s controlled completely separately from BuddyPress activity likes…
The annoying thing is that the site I’m working on updating is very focused on members sharing their photos and implementing SOME way for other members to react to them is a really critical functionality of the whole site!
It’s great to hear there might be something in the future that will improve the situation but for now I guess I’ll just have to dig into WPULike a bit more and see if I can figure out why it’s stopped working with MediaPress.
With many thanks for your insight as always.

NikHi Brajesh
Thank you for getting back to me.
“BuddyPress does not have any generic favourite API. There is way to re-use it other than re-implementing it.”
Surely BuddyPress allows users to favourite/like activity entries? Even MediaPress has the bp_activity_favorite_link function in the entry.php template? Of course, there may be good reasons why this wouldn’t work as a solution for “favouriting/liking” MediaPress uploads but surely you would agree it does exist?
“For the time being, I will suggest keeping WPUlike.”
Assuming this is the better solution, for now I am still using the solution as shown here – https://buddydev.com/mediapress-like-unlike-button-for-photos-videos-etc-with-wp-ulike-plugin/ but the like button doesn’t appear either in the lightbox nor on the single media page. I’m using the latest versions of MediaPress, WP ULike and BuddyPress. I’ve tried changing themes, I’ve tried switching to Legacy instead of Nouveau but nothing makes any difference.
I’m really not sure what to try next. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
With many thanks in advance.
Hi Brajesh
Ah… thank you so much, I see the BP Attachment component currently seems to be an add-on but looks very interesting and I will test/look out for further developments. Just out of interest, is there anywhere particular you would recommend visiting/following in order to keep up to date with BuddyPress developments generally?
With the site I’m currently updating, I will certainly be sticking with MediaPress for now as they already have a lot of content uploaded and I really don’t want to get into having to convert it somehow unless there’s really no other option.

NikHi Brajesh
Thank you for your reply. I’m not sure I understand this sentence…
> BuddyPress is bringing its own attachment solution and we are re-considering the use-case for MediaPress currently.
Have there been some recent changes with regard to the way BuddyPress handles things? Are you thinking of discontinuing MediaPress or just the way “likes” might be handled?

Thank you Brajesh. That’s interesting…
1. Does that mean that the title and excerpt could potentially show up in Google? Or is Google “intelligent” enough to work out that the link itself can’t be reached and therefore result won’t display at all?
2. Would it be better NOT to be using an seo plugin? I’d assumed that would give added protection (eg. by not allowing groups to be indexed at all) but maybe that’s not the case?
Regards
NikMary Mead… I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand the point of your comment?
Hi Brajesh
Thank you for your consideration.
1. Take your point re. allowing groups admins to redirect users. Personally I don’t think it would detract too much from the overall functionality of the plugin if this setting were to be restricted to site admin only, but otherwise, as you suggest, some kind of warning if it should be delegated to group admins would definitely make some sense.
2. Also take your point re. BuddyBlog Pro not necessarily/automatically being aware of group posts. It would definitely be a useful/helpful feature if a filter code be included in a future as you suggest.
With many thanks as always.
